The microscopes (Olympus IX81, Axiovert 100tv, the Spinning Disk, and the 2- Photon) can be equipped with a temperature controlled perfusion chambers designed to maintain cells under physiological conditions for long term observations.

The microscopes are fitted with digital cameras that enable users to follow fluorescently labeled living cells (e.g. GFP-tagged proteins) at low light levels under computer control.
